Where do you start when you’re looking for a wedding photographer?
You’ve gotten engaged and now a big part of your life is all about planning your wedding and that means all of a sudden you need to know a lot about the ins and outs of wedding planning, banquet halls, wedding photographers, just to name a few… anything and everything that has to do with how to plan a wedding.
And when it comes to your wedding photos, perhaps you already know what you like and don’t like but even then finding and choosing a wedding photographer can be overwhelming.
Where to start? It’s not uncommon for wedding couples to ask their friends for recommendations or get referrals from their wedding venue. Some wedding couples call up wedding photographers listed on wedding sites or do some searches to come up with potential wedding photographers.
The problem is when your friends’ tastes are different than yours and you’re not crazy about who your wedding venue recommends. And coming up with wedding photographers on your own is still leaving you with not knowing how to go about choosing a wedding photographer.
If so, you just may be picky.
But being picky is a good thing. You’re only going to have these wedding photos for the rest of your life (If that doesn’t make you picky, what does?)
But just looking at wedding photos alone won’t get you there entirely. And calling up wedding photographers may not get you there either. Especially if they’re all looking and sounding the same to you.
What you need to make intelligent choices is information. You need to know what you need to know. That’s true about anything you need or want to do.
So maybe for you a good starting point is to know what kind of different wedding photography styles there are and then get an idea behind why wedding photography prices are so varied and how all of this impacts who to choose as your wedding photographer.
Or maybe you could use a easier way of choosing a wedding photographer. Then try the 3 Step System I came up with when I was looking for my wedding photographer. I wrote about it here for the Huffington Post: 3 Step System for Choosing Your Wedding Photographer
