Hello – I’m G.E. Masana. Here’s what to expect at your portrait sitting, so please make sure you read this through to the end so you don’t miss any of the details or terms because this page describes it all for you. And then near the bottom of the page is the link to our online calendar so you can reserve a portrait sitting for our next available date.
You’re in for a treat. If you’ve been looking for a more meaningful and artistic portrait than the typical photo of the two of you, finally here’s your chance:
Imagine you and your partner in a photo as romantic as any romance story. And all you have to be is deeply, head over heels in love. Because it’s going to really show in these portraits.
This is a portrait intended to be a tribute to your love, and your life together.
This is going to be a more emotional type of experience than the typical picture-posing routine other photographers do. You may have read about this in the HUFFINGTON POST, “When Photographing Couples Portraits Becomes a Romantic Experience.”
As everyone knows, typically, the photographer plants you in front of the camera and says, “look at me and smile!” “now stand in front of that tree and look at me and smile!” “Pretend he said something funny and laugh! Now look at my finger and at the count of three, jump in the air! Dip her backwards! Hold a balloon! Try to look like you’re in love!!!”
…and these cookie-cutter poses come out stiff, forced, fake and cheesy. Do you know why you’re looking so lifeless and unnatural? It’s because you’re being forced to play-act on command for the camera, following the directions the photographer’s feeding you, and so your mind is flooded with thoughts like, “Do I look okay? Do I look at you or him? What do I do with my hands? Is this coming out okay?”
And all that has you feeling awkward and uncomfortable. And it shows. Couples look at those photos and say, “that’s not what we’re about.” These are the reasons people don’t like the way they look in photos.
All that changes right now.
Because instead, I’ve discovered how the best expressions happen when you don’t think about the camera. At my portrait sitting, you’ll become deeply immersed in your feelings for each other instead of play-acting antics. And that’s the spirit and memories we’ll infuse into these portraits. What could be more natural?
If you’re like my other clients, couples with love in their hearts for each other, wanting an original work of art depicting your true love, capturing your essence for all time, then this is good news because look what happens then:
As you’re being photographed, the world around you disappears. You’re in each other’s arms, reflecting your thoughts on the person you love – not the camera. What you’re feeling in your hearts, we see in your expressions and body language. In fact, they’re the kinds of expressions you couldn’t pose even if you tried.
They’re genuine. They’re real. And that’s what I capture for you.
And guess what? Now your portraits have true meaning to them because these moments came from your hearts. Just think, when you look at these soulful portraits hanging on your living room wall ten, twenty, thirty years from now… you’re instantly flooded with your feelings of how you felt today. In fact, you’ll find it impossible not to remember. When your children and grandchildren, even your great-grandchildren and their children see them, they’ll see a testament of your love.
Then to this portrait I reduce fine-lines and blemishes, tweak cosmetic “nips and tucks” all to make you look your absolute best. I blend in painterly brushstrokes, tones, textures and touches in a manner reminiscent of the Great Masters of Art such as Rembrandt and Vermeer, so your finished portrait pieces are brought to yet another exciting dimension, rendered as finished works of art, resembling classic paintings yet remaining completely contemporary and modern. When you see these portraits in person, the impact is astounding.
Obviously, portraits like these go beyond ordinary photos. They become a timeless heirloom piece designed to last in your family for generations.
I believe it’s the best portraiture in the world, and that’s why I’m willing to let couples like you try my photography style. I’ve photographed magazine editors, gallery owners, opera singers, even other photographers… as well as the people next door, teachers, police officers, all good people. And the thing they all have in common is their desire for finer and more meaningful photography than the ordinary. This grand level of distinctive portraiture is also reflected in the types of pieces we offer.
So we’re using this promotion to introduce more clients to our artworks. You get my Linen Embossed 10″ Mounted Portrait, a $200 value (frame not included) as an introductory piece to the stunning portrait art pieces I can create for you. It’s very distinctive and beautiful, like having a personal custom portrait painting. We don’t offer pickup service because our Master Printer will be shipping your portrait directly to you so all we ask is you just help with shipping and handling (only 49.97) because your portrait has to be shipped and insured as artwork, carefully packaged so it doesn’t get crushed, mutilated or damaged en route to you, and that can’t be done for the price of a stamp. As you can see from our numerous testimonials our clients agree this makes a wonderful way to try out our portraiture without hefty up-front session fees. We’re confident our portraits will absolutely thrill you.
Here’s what happens next:
When we confirm your appointment I’ll email you some very simple directions on how to dress for this, and where we’re conducting the portrait sitting, as well as give you makeup and hair tips. All this will help create beautiful portraiture, lending us the timeless look we want so you never look out of date. Clothing selection is essential to getting this right. Our best work will be distracting to the eye if the clothing selection, color and style are inappropriate for a fine portrait like this. So you must adhere to the wardrobe directions, or we can’t photograph you and you’ll forfeit the sitting.
We ask you arrive at your appointments fifteen minutes early to make sure you’re on time because we schedule appointments back to back. If someone runs late, no matter why they’re late (and we understand sometimes it’s beyond their control), then that affects everyone else, and that’s not fair to all the others. We can’t push others much back because you weren’t on time. So we can’t accommodate you if you’re late and arrive after your appointment start time and for that reason, lateness results in your appointment getting cancelled.
At the end of your Sitting we’ll schedule a Selection Appointment, which takes place usually one week after the portrait sitting, to come back in to sit down with us and select your portraits.
At that Selection Appointment, we’ll enjoy looking through the portraits, you’ll narrow them down to the ones that speak to your heart most. You both must be present. Please do not bring any small children or other guests so that we can focus on the selections without distraction. Because we don’t create digital products, we do not offer online or email viewing.
I’ll guide you and offer suggestions. That’s the time you’ll place any selections you want as that’s the time we dedicate for that purpose and so, we don’t maintain any images which are not ordered. There I’ll show you the kind of portrait artwork we can create for you.
Just so you know, we offer premium hand-finished, fine art pieces, like you might see in a fine-art gallery or hung prominently in a million dollar home. They’re created to display as part of your home decór and become timeless heirlooms for generations. These are gorgeous creations, finished in grand style, which include ready-to-hang framed and unframed portraits on artist’s 100% woven cotton canvas. All these artworks are complete with retouching and treated to our distinctive painterly technique.
And if you’re like my other clients, once you experience and see how your portraits look, you’ll want to invest in finer portrait upgrades. Not that you have to, there’s no purchase required, there’s no obligation. That’s entirely up to you, but almost all my clients do invest in other portrait sizes and framing. If you choose to do that, we can apply the $200 value of the Linen Embossed Portrait as a credit instead, and you’ll enjoy an immediate savings of $200 off anything you want me to create for you. Major credit cards are graciously accepted and lay-away plans are available.
If you have any questions we didn’t answer, please call us at (646) 543-1321. We look forward to creating a stunning portrait heirloom for you.
